There are two types of kids in Catholic schools:
Teenagers with the mind of a 60 year old conservative you’d see protesting outside a planned parenthood
“this character is trans because I’m trans and I like them” is a power move but “this character is cis because I’m trans and I don’t like them” is an even bigger power move
not to make anyone uncomfortable but we also have to start examining cis bisexual people’s transphobia more closely. only focusing on cis lesbians/cis gay men does nothing when cis bisexual people can be just as transphobic. the amount of “i like my women to be real women and my men to be real men” mindsets i’ve seen from cis bisexual people is staggering. not to mention they can fetishize trans people in their own specific ways, such as seeing a trans person as “the best of both worlds”.
Normalize using ‘they’ and ‘them’ pronouns. Practice doing it, especially when you’re unsure of someone’s gender. It avoids cissexism and adhering to an arbitrary binary. Seriously!!! If someone says they are more comfortable with these pronouns for themself, use them!!!! Don’t be an ass!!! This isn’t an opportunity to flex your grammatical muscle, that you only really seem to care about when it comes to not using the correct pronouns for transgender people
and like the phrase “happy pride” in and of itself is just so incredibly powerful? it’s like so simple but when so many gay strangers are hugging you and saying it and you know they mean it, like really mean it, because there’s nothing gay people love more than seeing other gay people happy
